Kudos to Volusia County Clerk of Court Laura E. Roth and her Staff of Friendly and Knowledgeable Professionals<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

My mother (God rest her soul) used to say that it was always important to give credit where credit is due<\/em>, because it keeps you right with the world.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s time that I share my experiences interacting with the Volusia County Clerk of Court over the past five years as a document preparer offering services to pro se litigants in my community \u2013 and \u2013 I also have a vested interest in keeping right with the world.<\/p>\n

The Birth of Florida Document Specialists and Florida Family Adoptions<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Florida Document Specialists<\/a> and Florida Family Adoptions<\/a> was born from a good place and big hearts.\u00a0 Understanding the great need for legal document preparation services for pro se litigants who cannot afford an attorney, we decided to put ourselves out there and see what happened.\u00a0 We took a leap of faith.\u00a0 I quit my job at a local law firm, and my partner John had just retired from law enforcement.\u00a0 That was over five years ago, and we have never looked back.<\/p>\n

Since our inception, we’ve had the opportunity and privilege to provide non-lawyer document preparation services to thousands of residents state-wide who otherwise would have been left to navigate the court system on their own and with less than optimal resources to guide them.\u00a0 Most of our customers simply cannot afford the legal fees charged by attorneys, and almost always they are the ones that need those services the most.\u00a0 Our customers are typically the most needy and vulnerable in our communities.<\/p>\n

Our Service Area Grew Quickly<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

We assisted our early customers with filing their paperwork in Volusia and Flagler Counties.\u00a0 This quickly grew to neighboring counties and then state-wide as our reputation spread.\u00a0 As our volume of work increased, so did our filings and experiences with different Clerk of Court offices throughout Florida.\u00a0 Some of the experiences for our customers have been exceptional and others \u2026 well, not so much.\u00a0 As our interactions with various county clerks grew over the years, one particular county consistently stood out from the rest in a good way.<\/p>\n

The Volusia County Clerk of Court is a Sterling Example for Others to Emulate<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

If I had the power, I’d clone the Volusia County Clerk of Court and and their procedures for handling pro se cases and implement it statewide<\/p>\n
