Examples of documents that typically require online notarization before they can be apostilled:

  • Personal affidavits or written statements that still need to be notarized

  • Travel consent letters for minors that have not yet been notarized

  • Business letters, corporate authorizations, or other unsigned documents needing notarization

  • Power of Attorney that has not yet been signed and notarized

  • Social Security benefit verification letters (SSA)

  • Pension benefit letters from private companies or government agencies

  • Private school transcripts not already signed and notarized by the registrar

  • Diplomas (public or private) requiring notarized true copies

  • Copies of passports, driver licenses, or other non-recordable ID documents

  • Copies of non-recordable documents (e.g., leases, bills, personal records)

  • Any document that is still unsigned and needs to be notarized by a Florida notary

✅ Note: Public school transcripts cannot be notarized online. These must be signed by the registrar and notarized by the school’s or district’s own notary.

Examples of documents that are already notarized or don’t require notarization at all:

  • A properly signed and notarized Power of Attorney

  • A birth certificate, death certificate, or marriage certificate issued by a Florida Clerk of Court or Bureau of Vital Statistics

  • A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check

  • A court-certified judgment, name change order, or divorce decree

  • A public school transcript that has been signed by the registrar and notarized by the school’s notary

  • A notarized true copy of a diploma (already notarized)

  • A Certificate of Status or other certified records from the Florida Division of Corporations

  • A notarized copy of a passport or driver license

  • Any document that has already been notarized or certified by a Florida notary or government agency and does not require any changes
